Located on a prominent corner in Sydney's CBD, this project involved the major refurbishment of an existing office tower, including additional floors and a new facade. A highly articulated masonry façade, with deep set glazing to King Street, responds to the adjoining streetscape, identifies the office tower entry, and encompasses paired columns that previously dominated the original facade. A glazed curtain wall facade to George Street relates to the active retail frontage. The completed tower accommodates 18 levels of commercial offices, and 5 levels of retail space, including the 3 level flagship Apple store to the podium.
Burley Katon Halliday Pty Ltd (BKH) claims copyright in the works comprising this project. Phillip Mathieson was the architect for this project whilst employed at BKH, in collaboration with its then (and since departed) principal, David Katon. During his time with BKH, Phillip Mathieson was an Associate Director and a nominated architect responsible for architectural services proivded by BKH. Phillip Mathieson claims moral rights in relation to the works comprising this project.
