Kings Cross Apartment, Sydney
Located within the Altair Apartments, a landmark building by Engelen Moore, this project refines an existing residence to create a calm and composed home, defined by restraint, clarity and material integrity.

A palette of sandblasted limestone and blackened timber forms the foundation of the interior, extending across floors, walls and joinery to establish a quiet continuity. The kitchen is anchored by a monolithic granite island bench—its flamed finish introducing texture and tactility—while integrated cabinetry conceals storage and appliances to maintain a clean and deliberate composition.

Natural light filters into the living and dining spaces through full-height glazing, complemented by a careful selection of furniture, art and objects. The layout has been reworked to improve amenity, with the introduction of a walk-in wardrobe and a refined bathroom lined in limestone and stainless steel, detailed with a custom basin and mirrored cabinetry.

A generous north-facing terrace extends from the main living area and bedroom, finished in limestone pavers and bordered by a stone bench and planted hedging. This outdoor space provides both openness and enclosure, softening the outlook and allowing for quiet moments or informal gatherings.

Throughout, the apartment reflects a continued exploration of proportion, material and light—offering a measured response that prioritises atmosphere, longevity and comfort.
