Avalon Tennis Pavilion, Sydney
Avalon Tennis Pavilion, Sydney
Situated on a secluded waterfront property on Sydney’s northern beaches, Avalon Tennis Pavilion is a refined retreat designed for leisure, creativity, and quiet escape. Created in collaboration with SJB, the two-level structure sits beyond the tennis court, opening to elevated views across Pittwater Bay.

The pavilion rests on a stone base and is wrapped in glass, with a copper-clad roof that extends through the interior as a continuous ceiling plane. Large sliding doors open to the court and west-facing terrace, creating a seamless connection to the landscape. A timber-lined wall conceals a kitchenette and bathroom, maintaining a clean, open layout.

A sculptural spiral stair leads to the lower level, where a generous, multi-purpose space opens to the garden. Designed to accommodate guests, creative work, and entertaining, the interior is composed of sandblasted limestone, dark timber joinery, and blackened steel. Lighting is carefully layered to highlight texture and form, bringing warmth and intimacy to the space.

Elegant and understated, Avalon Tennis Pavilion offers a private sanctuary immersed in light and landscape—combining architectural clarity with material richness in a setting defined by calm and quiet luxury.
